Welcome to This Recycled Life, an online journal of one woman’s attempt to recycle old clothing, thrift store finds, and garage sale gems into newly useful items. I also plan to include spotlights of other recycling artists and craftspeople. I want to post patterns and step-by-step directions and photos of my latest crafts created out of recycled, reclaimed, or reused materials.
In our house there are 2 adults and 2 little girls and we all have a lot of STUFF. Just the other day I was looking around at how much stuff I use to take a shower and ‘put my face’ on in the morning. In the shower I have: 3 different shower gels, a shampoo for frizzies, a shampoo for hair color, hair conditioner, face scrub for daily use, and another for weekly use. After I get out of the shower I have lotion for my face, 2 different gels for my eyes, Retin- A for my wrinkles, and it just goes on and on. Do you have that much stuff too?
I had an epiphany about a year ago while we were still living in Bogota, Colombia. After being very embarrassed by the excesses in my life and the waste I create I’m striving to make some changes. I’d like to make drastic changes in my life and my head about what I really ‘Need’. It’s sure to be an interesting ride!
