My smallest girl is old enough now that we’ve begun giving away her baby clothes. I really hate it when they grow up, I’d love it if they would just stay small and cuddley a little longer – this little girl in particular has been a very snuggly baby.
We gave some of her baby things to a friend in Bogota, sent the next size to my family, and kept just a few things including some socks we couldn’t find partners for anymore. I needed a break from the dolls the other day and found that I needed something new to do so I dug out the old socks.
I remember how excited I was when we first bought baby clothes imaging the sweet little baby who would someday wear them. After the girls outgrew the clothes I still loved to look at them and think about all the events we watched while they were still so small and learning.
I thought that the little mismatched socks would be really fun tacked on to a mini quilt, besides being a good excuse to continue handling baby clothes. This way I’ve got a visual reminder I can use to pester my girls into sitting still for a few minutes for mommy cuddles.

I really like this idea! The “baby sleeping, please be quiet” doorknob hanging was always a good idea, but this one, with the mismatched sock, is cute and unique.
what a great idea! my baby is about to be 6 months old, and everytime i have to pack away his tiny clothes, i tear up a little. i think i’m going to do something like this! thanks for the idea

Hi, what a nice blog you have. I found it on Yahoo while looking for some newborn baby stuff. Thanks and God bless.
