Me

Education and Work:
I have both a Bachelors and a Masters, lots of school and one really cool Art Gallery show during College. I’ve been sewing since elementary school, I did beading through high school and into college. In college I hung out at the Art Annex most days and missed a number of my other classes, happily it all worked out in the end.
I joined the work force and spent plenty of time supporting my little ‘craft habit’ with my earnings. I married and had a few children and now, well I’ve got much more time to do the things that I want.
I’ve spent most of the last two years in South America watching wonderful, hardworking people do so much more with so much less and found myself interested in a change in my craft and art habits. I cut up t-shirts and made a rug, I’ve cut down old jeans and made rugs, skirts and a dress for my baby. I’ve determined that I can do more with less and so here I am trying to give it a go.
Crafts:
Most of the work on this blog is eventually sold or given to family and friends. I love the website Etsy - I have a store called Beautiful Garbage. If you like what you’ve seen come and have a look.
I’ve been working on recycled t-shirt birds and ornaments. I worked up a couple of easy craft patterns for recycling catalogs and junk mail. My best work to date is the felted wool sweater ornaments with mother of pearl buttons. I am especially proud of my recycled upholstery flowers with reclaimed lace leaves.

What a gorgeous website - it’s so clean and easy to read. I love the pictures and I think you are inspiring me…although I probably have enough projects to worry about now. The angels are so sweet, I love those and I also really like the flower bouquets. Everything is lovely and so creative. Thank you for sharing your website with me…I have had great fun looking through it!
I think we have like minds. I also started a website (FunInTheMaking.net) where I share projects that I’ve made out of recycled materials. You are very creative! It is good to see others crafting responsibly. I’ll be back.
I just found your blog. Very cool stuff. I am not sure where you are located but I am on the board of The Scrap Exchange in Durham, NC. We collect industrial discards everyday in NC for distribution to artists, day care providers, crafters, teachers, etc. Might be something to look into.
Let’s be buddies…I love your thinking - check out my work at repurposing.etsy.com and look at the REPURPOSED section….it’ll give you an idea for the crazy thought my brain pumps out..

It’s always exciting for me to see another persons
zeal for everything craft and arty that uses the ‘green’ portion of the brain!
Happy to have come across your page!
